We asked one of our trainees, Lucas, a few questions about his experience during the course so far.
Where are you from and why did you choose the Czech Republic?
I’m from Portland, Oregon. I moved to Prague in 2021, and got my Undergraduates degree at Anglo American University in Mala Strana.
What do you think of Prague?
I love Prague. It’s such a beautiful city, the people are all nice, and there’s always something fun to do. The culture is so rich and unique, and there are so many fun and interesting people to interact with and get to know.
How are you finding the course so far?
The course has been really interesting so far. I have so much love for English as a language, and learning about it from the perspective of a teacher is really interesting.
What has surprised you so far (either course related or Prague related)?
Probably just realizing why my teachers did all the little things that confused me when I was a child. I always thought some of the habits they had were strange, and now I’m learning why they did them. In general, it’s just interesting to see the method that accompanies teaching.
What are your plans for after the course?
want to work as a teacher in Prague for a while, and keep living here. Then maybe after a year or so I would like to look for a teaching job in China, and go live there for a time. If I like living there I may pursue a masters degree at a Chinese university.
