It’s week 2 of our March Course, and we asked one of the local trainees, Jnn, a few questions about his experience during the course so far.
What was your previous job and why did you decide to change to Teaching English?
My name is Jan and I was born in Prague actually, so I had an easy choice to make. I am so happy to find a TEFL course here in my country. I used to work as a manager of the PR Department for the National Technical Museum – I learnt a thing or two about how to work with people, but my true passion is teaching. I love to share my experience and help others to get the best of themselves – it really makes sense to me.

Why should people visit Prague?
Prague is a beautiful city, not that small, but not that big either. It is full of historical buildings and mysterious folklore, you can find tasty beer and super unhealthy local food 🙂 Whether you like to explore the city or just have some fun Prague is a very good option for you. There are a lot of Museums, Theaters, Opera houses and plenty of places you can go for a walk and the view of the city.
How are you finding the course so far?
I have just finished my first week and I love the course. Sure, there are a lot of tasks, tons of new information but I love every minute of it. I can see that our trainers actually care about our success. Supporting us all the time with their best advice and sharing their experience. Also our group of trainees is supportive and we get along quite well. So far, I think that was definitely one of my good life decisions 🙂
What has surprised you so far (either course related or Prague related)?
There is one thing that surprised me in particular and that is the fact that I actually do not zone out during the classes. I got myself a university degree and I remember a lot of lectures. I had a real problem not sleeping through it. I remember my professor just reading their presentation to us. But lectures here are truly gripping, we constantly participate, training, answering questions, giving suggestions etc – we actually can think about the things and get engaged.
What are your plans for after the course?
Leaving my previous job I would like to switch to full-time teaching. I suppose I will apply for the job in Spěváček language school and maybe in a couple next years I could also work on my own. It is kind of soon to tell, but my plan is def initely to stick to teaching, the exact way I am sure I am going to find 🙂

Join an upcoming TEFL course where in just 4 weeks you too can be teaching English abroad.
