We ask one of our current trainees, Dayna, a few questions about her experience during the course.
Where are you from and why did you choose the Czech Republic?
I’m from beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and happy to be here in Prague! I had just finished wrapping up a big project and was taking a break before starting another one. After a chance encounter with one of your TEFL Instructors while on vacation here, I took a leap of faith and registered for the TEFL Programme.
What do you think of Prague?
Prague is amazing! The architecture and history is rich, the people and the city are beautiful and the lifestyle is fantastic. I’ve spent hours walking in every direction and there’s still so much more to see. The public transit is super easy, functional and with my one month pass, I hop and hop off in new neighbourhoods to explore all the time.
How are you finding the course so far?
The courses are interesting and in-depth. Its been a while since I’ve been in a learning environment so it’s taking me a bit to find my groove. I really appreciate the different teaching styles of our Trainers and the ease in which they deliver a vast amount of content. As a native english speaker, I’m surprised at how challenging the Grammar lessons are and how much I hadn’t seen before. Both the courses and the days are full but balanced and our Trainers are terrific.
What has surprised you so far (either course related or Prague related)?
Hmmmm… I’m not sure if I’ve been surprised by much as I arrived pretty open-minded and ready for anything. There are a million beautiful reasons to come to this city; the food, the prices, the ambience and the people are just some of them! Prague is a super fun city and there are new festivals and events happening every week! It wasn’t a surprise but a pleasant confirmation to see that the TEFL Program here is top-notch, rigorous and professional. I appreciate the level of expertise, depth of knowledge and dedication by the Trainers and the interaction with past students to prove to us that they’re the real deal.
What are your plans for after the course?
Speaking of surprises, since taking this course, my plans might be changing! I was initially looking to complete the course then go home to Vancouver and start teaching english on-line. I’ve now extended my stay to include a trip to Spain, Portugal and then Mexico. I’ll likely go home to tie up a few loose ends and then look at teaching opportunities here in Prague or ??? It’s exciting that this program opens so many doors to teach in so many countries. Thank you and I can’t wait!!!
