It’s halfway through our June Course, and we asked one of our trainees, Amal, a few questions about her experience during the course so far.
Where are you from and why did you choose the Czech Republic?
I’m from Yemen. I moved to the Czech Republic ten years ago with my dad because of his work. We also have friends and relatives in Prague, so it felt like a good place to settle.
What do you think of Prague?
I think Prague is a beautiful city. It’s calm, clean, and, in my opinion, it has one of the best public transportation systems. I also like how safe it feels and how easy it is to get around by trams or metro. I’ve been living here for almost ten years, so it feels like a second home to me.
How are you finding the course so far?
I’m really enjoying it. It has brought out my creative side, and I’m happy about that. It’s challenging, especially because we have to plan lessons every day, so there’s always something to do, which I like. Now that I’m in my third week, I feel like I’m getting the hang of it.
What has surprised you so far (either course related or Prague related)?
I never imagined that I would enjoy teaching. I love building connections with the students and having fun in class. Listening to their opinions on different topics has made me more aware of different perspectives
What are your plans for after the course?
I’m planning to work in Prague for about a year to gain teaching experience. After that, I’d like to move to Saudi Arabia or maybe an East Asian country because I feel the culture there is closer to my own. I’d love to teach children, it’d be so much fun with them and giving them the first steps in learning English and watch their confidence grow while making learning enjoyable.
