We asked 2 of our trainees, a couple – Ailish and Cody, a few questions about their experience during the course so far.
Where are you from and why did you choose the Czech Republic?
Ailish: I’m from the Sunshine Coast, Australia and I really wanted to get leave and explore some of the world. I chose the Czech Republic as it’s very central in Europe, making it easy to travel around, and it seemed more affordable than other European countries. Everyone I spoke to about moving said I’d have to go here as it is so beautiful and they were so right! Thankfully Cody is super spontaneous so when I told him about my plans he was more than happy to follow.
Cody: I am also from the Sunshine Coast, Australia, we decided we’d had enough of the warm sunny days and beaches and wanted to move to a freezing climate where we would have to buy a whole new wardrobe of clothes to survive the weather, just kidding. Having never been to Europe before we were both keen on a change of scenery and to see what life was like over here. Initially I was just following Ailish to the Czech Republic to find a random job here but a few weeks before arriving I decided I would do the course with her and I’m so glad I did.
What do you think of Prague?
We both absolutely love it so far! Having only been here for around 3 weeks now there is still so much of this city to explore, it already feels like home with both of us making new friends and finding new places to continue our hobbies. We are both quite big fans of Czech food too which has been a pleasant surprise.
How are you finding the course so far?
The course has been amazing so far, coming into it both of us weren’t too sure what to expect but we have been pleasantly surprised by how helpful everyone has been. The teachers here are great and they have really guided us so far into being the best teachers we can be, but most importantly our amazing classmates who have quickly turned into some of our closest friends here have been key to making every day enjoyable as we learn together. Everybody we have met through the course has helped us in their own way and made us feel so welcome.
What has surprised you so far (either course related or Prague related)? 
Grammar!! We have both been humbled by our initial feeling of lacking knowledge of the language we speak everyday! Other than that the cold has been a bit of a shock as we are used to much warmer weather but I think we are getting used to it now and actually starting to enjoy it. We also got to see snow in Prague the other day which, to us, is a mind blowing experience.
What are your plans for after the course?
After the course we both plan on staying here for at least a year, hoping to find a job here teaching English. After that we plan on a potential move to Spain to continue our travels of the world!
