As Head of Admissions, I answer a lot of questions during interviews and info calls about moving to Prague. A question I get asked the most is “how much does it cost to live in Prague?” and while the answer in reality is “it depends on your lifestyle” I know that isn’t so helpful. So, I asked a local Visa/Relocation Agency, Move to Prague, for their monthly estimates for newcomers to the city. Read below to see an estimate based on various lifestyles.
Food / Groceries
- 6,000kc = Eating very simple meals and never eating out.
- 15,000kc = A combination of home cooked meals and occassional eating out.
- 22,500kc – 30,000kc = Most meals are not prepared at home, but does not cover daily high-end restaurants.
Public Transportation
- 30kc = 3o minutes of transportation
- 40kc = 90 minutes of transportation
- 120kc = 24 hours of transportation
- 330 = 72 hours of transportation
- 550kc = 1 month of transportation
- 3650kc = 1 year of transportation
Phone, Internet, and TV
- 400kc – 700kc = Internet
- 500kc = Phone Plans (this can vary depending on phone operator)
- 250kc = Generally will cover extra TV services (such as HBO streaming)
