Our May 2026 just graduated, and before they departed for the last time, we asked them what advice they would give to the next course.
Here’s some of what they said:
- Even if you do not have prior teaching experienceor if you are not a native English speaker, you should not be afraid to pursue it.
- Truly enjoy your time on the course and make new friends along theway.
- Bond with your other trainees because it’ll help you get through the long planning nights.
- Enjoy the city as much as possible. In my opinion, Prague is the jewel of Europe, and anyone who comes here should enjoy it as much as they possibly can while they are here.
- Be open to the idea of moving here. Being in Prague for this month has only made me fall in love with the city more, and has caused me to want to stay here.
- Arrange time before or after thecourse to sightsee in Prague as the course is intense.
- Engage with the classes, even if they seem auxiliary, as much inspiration can be derived from these for your own lesson planning.
- Be open to feedback.
- Do not be afraid of making mistakes.
- Focus on student learning rather than trying to deliver a perfect lesson.
- Manage your time properly and remain highly organized because there is a heavy workload throughout the course.
- Make a skeleton of your lesson plan on the first day you have off so that the day before you teach you have less work to do.
- Don’t be afraid to come up with the material on your own and just lean into being a creative person because you might just surprise yourself.
- Rely on your fellow trainees for support and ideas because they are just as good a resource as everything else out there.
- Be ready to work.
