Our 1st TEFL course of 2026 just graduated, and before they departed for the last time, we asked them what advice they would give to the next course.
Here’s some of what they said:
- Have fun and enjoy the process. Teaching should be engaging for both the teacher and the students make lessons fun and thorough.
- Prioritize tasks to avoid unnecessary stress. I think making this course your main priority for the four weeks is best.
- Complete lesson plans as soon as the demos are given, as this allows more time to fine-tune them and feel prepared.
- Approach the workload with mindful organization and patience. Strategic planning and self-compassion are essential during the course.
- Fully embrace the resources and guidance provided by trainers, who have designed these tools to streamline lesson preparation and encourage reflection.
- Engage actively with your trainers and peers: their experience, mentorship, and professional connections. Whether you’re staying in Prague or moving elsewhere, this course will help make for a much smoother and more rewarding transition to your own TEFL teaching!
- Enter the program prepared to leave your comfort zone. Teaching is a completely different style of communication, and learning to convey information in this style is very useful.
- Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Overthinking and hyperfixating on small details can take away from the bigger picture.
- Take more from the program than the certificate. The experience is worth the effort because self discovery is priceless.
- Manage your time carefully but also take it one step at a time.
- Be patient with yourself.
- Absorb as much knowledge as possible. It will benefit your future teaching career immensely.
- Be prepared for an intense experience, but remember that the best outcomes often come from the hardest challenges.
- The trainers and support system in this program are exceptional and will support you from day one and even beyond the course.
- Hard work produces the best results, so cherish the journey while it lasts.
- Approach the course with a determined mindset and be ready for a real teaching experience.
- Be open to feedback and prepare to discover new things about themselves.
- Rely on one another as a class and work as a team, as this makes the experience more supportive, comfortable, and enjoyable.
In just 4 weeks you can be teaching English abroad.
